Parents As Teachers

Parents As Teachers (PAT) is a prenatal and early learning program for parents of children between the ages of Birth and three (3) years.
The services available from this program include the following:
Personal visits by certified Parent Educators
Group Connections
Developmental Screenings
Referrals
Emergency Clothes Closet
Toy/Book/Video Lending Library
Parents As Teachers uses the research based curriculum developed by the Parents As Teachers National Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Independent research shows that at the age of three (3) years, children who have participated in the PAT program score above the national norms on achievement. PAT is validated by the National Diffusion Network and is recommended in Goals 2000 legislation. PAT/ARESC has been designated the Arkansas Training Center by the Parents As Teachers National Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Networking, Parent Educator Training, In-service and Technical Assistance is available for certified Parent Educators throughout the state. PAT at ARESC has now held several In-service weeks for certification purposes. Many concerned parents, educators, and legislators, have worked long hours to educate the public about the value of this program and to get stability in funding through the Arkansas Legislature.
